The Endless Mountains Heritage Alliance (EMHA) is currently developing an intern program with the assistance of local institutions of learning seeking opportunities for their students. Owing to the vast variety and scope of projects supported by EMHA in the Endless Mountains Heritage Region (EMHR), students pursuing any number of major or degree can find a suitable niche within the organization.
Opportunities can include a focus on EMHA-sponsored activities such as Farm-to-Table events, Susquehanna River sojourns, special presentations and Heritage Region workshops on topics such as grant writing and project development.
There is often need within the EMHR for technical assistance such as GIS map development, surveying project partner sites, event coordination, communications, and providing presentations on specific topics at EMHA-sponsored events.
EMHR representatives will be visiting area colleges and meeting with internship coordinators and scholastic organizations to establish our brand and potential opportunities for interns.
Internships will be monitored, recorded and documented in accordance with each school's intern policies to help participants fulfill their obligations and receive full credit for their endeavors. The EMHR can also be used for references on resumes and job applications.
It is hoped by EMHA board members that interns, like volunteers, will find themselves wanting to be more involved in the EMHR after gaining a better perspective of the contributions the EMHA makes to the Region and its potential for further development of heritage resources.
A long-term involvement with EMHA in the EMHR is our ultimate goal, but we are here to help the student achive his or her short-term objectives in the meantime.
