EndlessMountains Heritage Region is partnering with Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals andEndless Mountains Outfitters to present an exciting new event opportunity designed just forwomen. Women on the Water is a three-day paddling experience featuring engaging andeducational workshops that inspire participants while highlighting conservation efforts andoutdoor resources. \nCamping accommodations each night will be at Camp Lackawanna\, located at 1219Vosburg-Neck Road\, Tunkhannock\, PA 18657 at Merrill Lodge. There will be shared cabinswith up to 10 bunks available for an extra fee or you can bring your own tent and camp inthe field. Participants also have the option to meet at Camp Lackawanna the eveningbefore the first day’s paddle (Thursday\, July 30) to set up their camp and settle in before anearly start the next morning. Thursday’s welcome activity will feature a night hike withKelley Stewart from Keystone College. Each morning will offer a wake-up yoga class to startyour day with stretches before heading to the Susquehanna River. \nWorkshops to look forward to: Wilderness survival\, herbalism\, essential oils\, foraging\, foodpreservation\, how to plan a trip\, fishing\, a presentation by Daughters of the AmericanRevolution Tunkhannock Chapter\, and more! This event will also feature keynote speakersto be announced at a later date. \nThe cost for the event will include guided trip\, insurance\, 3 meals for each days\, workshops throughout the weekend\, a commemorative event T-shirt\, and other take home goodies. SUMMARY:EMHR’s North Branch Sojourn
DESCRIPTION:Register\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				July 23-26\, 2026 \nTake an epic four-day river adventure down the Susquehanna River’s North Branch with the Endless Mountains Heritage Region and help us celebrate America250! Our four-day North Branch Sojourn planned for July 23-26\, in partnership with Endless Mountains Outfitters and Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals\, is packed with live entertainment\, historical landmarks along the route\, and educational programming. This year’s route will begin at the French Azilum Historic Site in Bradford County and go to Plains Township in Luzerne County for a total of 68 river miles. Those who register for the North Branch Sojourn will receive a free event T-shirt.Endless Mountains Campground located in Laceyville will be the host for camping for those who would like to camp the evening before the event on Wednesday\, July 22. The address for Endless Mountains Campground is 255 Catfish Ln\, Laceyville\, PA 18623. Those planning to arrive in the morning to register are asked to be at the campground for registration no later than 7:45 a.m. Those not planning to attend the entire trip are asked to check in with staff about where to meet and what time on the scheduled day of their arrival.    \nRiver miles for each day:Thursday – 18.9Friday – 19.1Saturday – 15.2Sunday – 15.2 \nCamping will also take place at EMC Thursday evening after the first day’s paddle. Thursday evening’s festivities will be filled with a presentation by Endless Mountains Primitive Outdoorsmen\, followed by dinner and live entertainment by Joan Degaramo. A dinner of pulled pork\, mac and cheese and coleslaw will be catered by Meat Hook BBQ. \nParticipants will drive their vehicle to the next campsite in the morning to ensure their vehicle is waiting for them when we get off the water at the end of each day’s trip. Each morning\, they will be shuttled back up to the starting point for that day’s river miles. \nThe second evening of the trip\, Eaton Township will host tent camping at their property at the end of North Eaton Road just outside of Tunkhannock. This evening will welcome Wyoming County Historical Society\, who will present about local history and Native American culture. Dinner will be catered by Pompei’s in Tunkhannock and will be spaghetti with side salad and garlic bread. \nThe final evening’s campsite will be located at Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals in Falls Township. Tunkhannock’s Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will speak about local ties to past historical events. Dinner will be catered by owner of SKCR\, Art Coolbaugh\, who will do a spread of chicken cheesesteak burritos\, Mexican street corn\, and more. \nAll meals are provided in the cost to attend this event. Camping is optional to participants\, and those who wish may make their own local accommodations along the route. This event is on Saturday\, July 11\, with participants meeting atBartolai Winery at 188 N Main St\, Pittston\, PA 18640 by 8 a.m. Following a welcome and safetybriefing\, we will be shuttled up to Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals in Falls (WyomingCounty). This trip will be an 11-mile paddle down the Susquehanna River from SKCR toBartolai\, with a lunch stop in between. \nDinner will be catered by Art Coolbaugh and will be ready upon arrival at Bartolai\, whereparticipants can also enjoy some local wines. John Marrow of the Scranton area will be themusical entertainment for the evening. \nThis event will benefit Patriot’s Cove in Noxen\, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization innortheastern Pennsylvania and founded by a military veteran and his spouse to empowerother veterans\, first responders\, and their caregivers to heal and adapt to life after service.Throughout their 18-acre refuge\, they provide restorative outdoor activities\, environmentalservice projects\, and educational events and retreats for caregivers. Patriot’s Cove founderJeff Swire will be the guest speaker for the event. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for that day’sweather\, sunscreen\, a sufficient supply of water\, and a dry bag to keep their supplies in.While we will be providing dinner\, please bring snacks or a sacked lunch for our time on theriver\, as we will be stopping for a short break. \nRegistration for those who can bring their own kayak or canoe will be $60. The registrationfee not only covers the guided trip\, but also shuttling\, insurance\, dinner\, entertainment anda donation to Patriot’s Cove. EMHR is partnering with SusquehannaKayak & Canoe Rentals and Endless Mountain Outfitters for a 12-mile paddle down theSusquehanna River North Branch from Oakland Township to Hallstead in northernSusquehanna County. Participants should meet and check in at the Phantom Fireworks ofGreat Bend shopping plaza (25059 US-11\, Hallstead\, PA 18822) by 9 a.m. for registration forthe trip. Participants will be shuttled from there to the Oakland Township PA Fish & BoatCommission launch and be briefed on safety. \nThe trip will take participants along the “Great Bend” section of the Susquehanna NorthBranch section\, crossing over the site of the former Oakland Hydroelectric Dam that wasremoved in the fall of 2023. A lunch stop will be taken during the trip.Because of last year’s cancellation of this event\, this year’s paddle will benefit theSusquehanna County Conservation District\, who will provide educational programmingduring lunch at the Great Bend PA Fish & Boat Launch. SCCD was founded in 1947 througha partnership between the Susquehanna County Commissioners and the StateConservation Commission. SCCD promotes the sustainable use of natural resourcesthrough education\, technical assistance\, and partnerships that encourage responsiblestewardship and environmental awareness. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for that day’sweather\, sunscreen\, a sufficient supply of water\, any snacks desired\, and a dry bag to keeptheir supplies in. \nRegistration cost for the trip will be $60 if you bring your own kayak/canoe. For those whoneed to rent\, cost for a single kayak rental will be $50 or $70 for a tandem kayak or canoerental. The registration fee includes the cost of lunch from Red Rock BBQ\, insurance\,shuttling\, educational programming\, and the donation to the SCCD. Upon returning to EMO following the paddle\, there will be a catered dinner\, live entertainment from John Marrow\, and a tasting with Deep Roots Hard Cider. EMHR is again partnering with Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals on July 12\, 2025\, for a 12-mile paddle trip down the Susquehanna from Tunkhannock to Falls Township.   \nParticipants are asked to bring appropriate footwear\, clothing\, a lunch and/or snacks\, sunscreen and enough water. We will meet at Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals\, located at 119 Krafty Rd.\, Falls\, PA 18615 by 8 a.m. for registration. Following the welcome and safety briefing\, the shuttle will take participants to Riverside Park in Tunkhannock where we will launch down river by 10 a.m.  \nThe paddle portion of this event will end back at Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe Rentals at about 4 p.m.\, with dinner prepared by Art Coolbaugh and family\, along with live music from Bobby Scott.   \nCountryside Conservancy’s Bill Kern will be the guest speaker at this event\, who will share information and updates. Registration is $60 for those wishing to bring their own kayak\, and $110 for those renting a single or $130 for a tandem kayak/canoe.
