EMHR’s Small Business Support Hikes: Loyalsock State Forest

June 6 and 7, 2026
Endless Mountains Heritage Region’s first overnight hiking event will be Saturday and
Sunday, June 6 and 7, at Loyalsock State Forest in Sullivan County. The event will begin at
11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6. Registration will take place at CCC Jakersville Camp, which
can be found using coordinates: 41.461592 N, 76.507701 W (off Rock Run Road, near
LaPorte). The first day’s hike will be about 9 miles total, combining the Loyalsock Trail and
the Haystacks area of the Loyalsock State Forest. We will venture out with about 4 hours of
hiking, with a couple of stops to see Dutchmen Falls and the Haystacks along the way.
Dinner will be catered by Big Mike’s in Forksville. We will also hear a presentation about the
local history of the railroad grade that follows the Loyalsock Trail section of our route from
local historian and EMHR’s board member Gavin Sigfreid and see recent improvements on
the CCC Camp stove made by Loyalsock State Forest officials through EMHR’s Masonry
Workshop in April!
Sunday’s hike will be the choice of participants, either on the East Branch Trail, an easier
route in World’s End State Park, which is about 2.8 miles out and back and will take about
an hour or so to complete. The second option is a route near Sone’s Pond created by
Program Development Associate Rachel Flad, who mapped out about 3 miles in a loop. The
cost for this event will be $15. Registration for this event closes by Tuesday, June 2.
