This post is a little late, but the EMHR was happy to present a $500 check to the Bradford County Historical Society with funds that were raised during our Fall Heritage Benefit Paddle in October. Matt Carl, curator for the BCHS, gave a wonderful presentation about Bradford County following the 10-mile paddle along our beautiful Susquehanna River North Branch Water Trail. Thanks to Endless Mountain Outfitters for being such amazing guides on this annual river trip. This year's fourth annual Fall Paddle will be held Oct. 7, 2023, so stay tuned for more details!
We'd like to thank the PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR) for placing our beautiful North Branch Susquehanna River Water Trail in the final four candidates for the 2023 PA River of the Year. Now, it's up to the public to vote! Cast your vote for the North Branch at the link below!

Last night, we presented EMHR's board president and co-founder, Kevin Abrams, with a pair of retirement gifts honoring his unsurpassable service to our four counties. We cannot say enough great things about this man and the leadership, guidance and support he has provided to this Heritage Area since it was established in 1998. Kevin has spent 29 years with the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission and, during that time, has served with so many organizations like the EMHR, helped countless businesses and people, and improved so many of our communities across the northern tier in order to make them better places to live and to visit. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, @kevinabrams3. Thank you for your passion, your integrity, hard work, and above all, your friendship. You are a true pillar of so many communities throughout northeastern Pennsylvania and we hope you enjoy your much deserved retirement!
Today, the EMHR presented another $500 sponsorship to the Northeast Bradford School District for procurement of the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab from the PA Friends of Agriculture Foundation. Throughout the week, students in grade levels K-8 learned about various topics pertaining to agriculture and conducted hands on experiments to learn about the importance of farming. The EMHR contributes these sponsorships on a first come, first serve basis to ALL school districts within the counties of Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming. So, if you are interested in having the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab come to your school, be sure to reach out to the EMHR for support! #EMHR #MobileAgEdScienceLab #NortheastBradford #Agriculture
We took another trip on the road on Friday with our new administrative assistant, Savannah Schools! This time, we checked out Sullivan County - the gem of the Endless Mountains! We'd like to thank Mary Blondy of the @loyalsockfoundation for showing us the future site of The Summit: Center for Wellness in Laporte! We also checked out Worlds End State Park, High Knob Overlook, and the Eagles Mere Conservancy. The EMHR has provided grant funding to both The Summit and the Conservancy for projects this year and we're so happy to be a part of them! We also had the bonus sighting of an enormous black snake that was longer than the car was wide! #EMHR #SullivanCounty #PartnershipGrants #ExploringTheEndlessMountains
We spent all day Friday taking EMHR's new administrative assistant, Savannah Schools, on an adventure across much of the region, showing her some of the many sights and projects we promote and have contributed funding to in recent years! Savannah is a Wyalusing (Bradford County) native and she is incredibly passionate about the outdoors and our many heritage sites in the four counties. We're very much looking forward to working with her! Keep any eye out for EMHR's upcoming e-newsletter where there will be a profile piece on Savannah! Welcome aboard, Ms. Schools! #EMHR #AdministrativeAssistant #EndlessMountainsAdventure
We'd like to thank Mark Platts and the Susquehanna National Heritage Area for hosting our quarterly Heritage PA meeting this week. Our 2022 Youth Heritage Sojourn is officially underway! Over 40 students, 6-12th grade, will embark on a 3-day, 30-mile river adventure from @endlessmountainoutfitters in Wyalusing to Camp Lackawanna in Tunkhannock! What an incredible weekend at Salt Springs Park with a bunch of great hikers, some from as far away as Toronto, Canada! The volunteers at the park, Friends of Salt Springs Park, did such a great job taking our crew on the guided hike while some local trail runners did the Salt Springs Park Challenge on their own! Roughly 14 miles over two days discovering a number of great sites along the trails. Saturday wasn't what the weather forecasters predicted, but they toughed it out and kept right on going. Looking forward to welcoming back our Loopy Ladies and some new faces at the July 17-18 event with the Rail-Trail Council! Be sure to check out EMHR's event page to register for the next hike, as part of our Susquehanna County Hikes & Bikes Series, and our many other events we have lined up through October! www.emheritage.org/events
...AAAND THEY'RE OFF! Roughly 250 riders heading out into Sullivan County for day two of Grinduro PA here in the Endless Mountains! What an incredible day for it, too! We even heard a few words from our esteemed PA Director of Outdoor Recreation, Dr. Nathan Reigner before taking off into the Loyalsock State Forest and World's End State Park!
