First Day Hike at Mt Pisgah State Park

Start your 2027 year off by meeting the Endless Mountains Heritage Region at Mt. Pisgah State Park in Troy, PA at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2027, for a First Day hike!

Participants of this event will meet at the parking lot (Coordinates: 41.80072764104065, -76.66849878073032) by Stephen Foster Lake at the southern entrance of Mt. Pisgah State Park (28 Entrance Rd, Troy, PA 16947) for sign-in by 10 a.m. From the parking lot, the group will start the hike on the Oh! Susanna Trail until they take a right onto Goshawk Trail and loop back around to Oh! Susanna and return to the parking lot in which they started. The hike will be about 3 ½ miles with 308 feet of elevation gain total and will take about an hour and a half to complete. Participants should expect to be at the park for about two hours total.

All hikers are asked to wear clothing for the cold weather, including a winter jacket or coat, sensible hiking shoes or boots (with ice cleats in case of icy trail conditions), and a supply of water or any desired snacks for the duration of the hike. In case of ice or snow, please also bring trekking poles for the journey.

This program is free and open to the public, and EMHR asks that you please register for the event for planning purposes.
