Join the Endless Mountains Heritage Region in the Small Business Support Hike series and enjoy some scenery in Sullivan County at the Loyalsock State Forest and at World’s End State Park!
This two-day hike is Saturday, June 21, overnight into Sunday, June 22. Participants should meet at the Bridle Trailhead along Shanersburg Road (41.43769316, -76.6064891) for check-in by 11 a.m. to unload their camping gear and prepare for Saturday’s hike. Those traveling afar to attend this event have the option to camp at this location the evening before the event, if needed.
Saturday’s hike will be an estimated 8-mile loop, incorporating the Loyalsock and Fern Rock Nature Trails, which is considered a moderate difficulty level for hikers. After returning from the hike on Saturday, participants can gather around the campfire and hear stories from the Sullivan County Historical Society, followed by fun games.
Dinner on Saturday evening will be catered by Big Mike’s in Forksville at approximately 5:30 p.m. Camping reservations have been made by EMHR and Loyalsock State Forest officials for that evening at the Bridle Trailhead camping loop. We are asking for a $10 fee to cover the cost of dinner and camping for this event. Camping is optional and participants are free to make their own overnight lodging accommodations if they choose to do so.
Hikers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear (hiking shoes or boots) and have a sufficient supply of water with them for the duration of both days. Overnight supplies are also needed to camp: a tent, sleeping bag, etc. Participants will be responsible for lunch or snacks for the trails.
Sunday’s adventure will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants should meet at the parking area outside of the Worlds End Main office (82 Cabin Bridge Road, Forksville, PA 18616) before taking the approximate 4-mile trek of the Canyon Vista Trail, located in World’s End State Park, which boasts beautiful scenery. This trail is considered a moderate walk, mostly for its steep incline at the beginning of the hike and will take about 2.5 hours to complete.
