EMHR’s International Forest Day Hike at Salt Springs Park

March 21, 2026
Come on a hike with the Endless Mountains Heritage Region at Salt Springs Park outside of
Montrose, PA, to help us celebrate International Forest Day on Saturday, March 21! Meet for
the event at the Wheaton House (2305 Salt Springs Rd, Montrose, PA 18801) at the park by
11 a.m. for check-in. We will spend the day hiking through Salt Springs Park’s many trails,
including going through an Eastern Hemlock grove, where the trees are over 300 years old.
There, participants will learn the basics of forest bathing, which is a practice of relaxing and
sensory immersion in nature. This will be a laid-back hiking event that focuses less on trail
mileage and more on the sensory experience of each participant. This program will be led
by Tami Noonan, a longtime volunteer of the Friends of Salt Springs Park. Please be sure to
pack enough water for the afternoon, as well as any snacks/lunch for the trail. Participants
are encouraged to wear sensible shoes (hiking boots or comfortable sneakers) and dress
for the weather.
Though this event is free and open to the public, EMHR asks that if you plan to attend,
please register for the event by Thursday, March 19, for planning purposes.
