Overnight Hike at Roundtop Park in Athens

Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. – Sept. 20 at 12 p.m.

Endless Mountains Heritage Region closes its overnight hiking events for 2026 at Round Top Park in Athens Township from Saturday, Sept. 19 to Sunday, Sept. 20.

Meet at the top of Round Top Park, 2555 Round Top Rd, Athens, PA 18810 (Pavillion 9, lower section of park) by 11 a.m. for registration on Saturday and check-in for the event. We will begin hiking promptly at 11:30 and travel throughout the park with a combination of several trails made by Athens Township Parks and Recreation.

This is a rare opportunity to in which the EMHR was given special permission to camp at Round Top Park and see the lights of Sayre and Athens area from the incredible scenic overlooks at night!

When returning from the first day’s hike, participants will enjoy dinner, provided by a local restaurant in Athens. We will also see a Radio-Controlled Flying Club demonstration from a local group in Athens and hear from Athens Township Parks & Recreation about their plans for Round Top Park in the future. The group will embark on a short morning hike on Sunday, Sept. 20 before departing.

Registration costs for this event will be $15, which will cover the cost of dinner and help support a local restaurant in the Athens area. Registration for this event closes by Tuesday, Sept. 15.
