Join Endless Mountains Heritage Region, Pinchot State Forest officials and Countryside Conservancy at Miller Mountain, with “A Walk in Penn’s Woods!” Started by the PA Forestry Association, A Walk in Penn’s Woods is a state-wide initiative to get residents of Pennsylvania in the woods on Sunday, Oct. 5, an annual event. It teaches participants how their local woods function and gives them an understanding and new appreciation for wildlife. For more information on the state-wide event, go to https://paforestry.org/walk-in-penns-woods.
This event will start at 11 a.m. at the base of Miller Mountain in the Pinchot State Forest and make a loop up and down the mountain for about 5.9 miles. Hikers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear (hiking shoes or boots) and have a sufficient supply of water with them. This trail has a steep incline in the beginning but is somewhat easy the rest of the way. It is considered a hard trail, and may not suitable for young children to join on.
The cost for this event is $10 to cover dinner in support of a local restaurant after the hike. Hikers are asked to provide their own lunch and/or snacks.
