Join the Endless Mountains Heritage Region and DCNR for a refreshing winter hike at our region’s newest state park, the Vosburg State Park in Tunkhannock, on Saturday, Jan. 18! Participants should meet at the park entrance at 470 Vosburg Rd, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 at 1 p.m. for check-in.
We will combine the River, Eagle and Canal Trails along with Vosburg Road for an approximate 4 mile hike. The different landscapes participants will see will be woodland, the Susquehanna River, and farmland. Hikers should wear appropriate winter clothing and footwear (hiking shoes or boots) and have a sufficient supply of water with them. If there is significant snow on the ground, we recommend participants bring ice cleats and/or snowshoes. During the hike, participants will hear from DCNR’s Environmental Education Specialist, Amanda MacTarnaghan, who will share her knowledge on local wildlife and the tracks they leave around the park. After the hike, there will be hot chocolate to warm up with.
The event is free and open to the public, we just ask that you please register for this event so that we may get a headcount for the hike and prepare. Please register at http://eventsreg.dcnr.pa.gov/register/create/48214754514579.
